Vote for Me in 2008!
I was asked by a friend recently what I’d stand for and against as president of the USA. I responded as such, issue to issue:
Free Trade: Moderately opposed
While I am for trading with other nations, I would hope to limit the trades by making a few “hoops to jump through” for big businesses. If Wal-Mart, for instance, wanted to do most of its trading with China, I would impose a law that would force prices of Wal-Mart trading to increase and therefore encourage production of goods within the USA. I’d also require this jack-up in price to not interfere with prices of goods or employee pay by putting another law in place to stop such unjust increases to happen. This would allow the smaller businesses to have a slightly easier chance to keep up and prevent an all-out monopoly of large businesses without delving entirely into socialism, of which I am not wholeheartedly oppose but I feel America is far from ready for a socialist state at this point in its history.
Abortion: opposed
Oddly enough, I may be one of the few libertarians who opposes Roe v. Wade. I will not however make this an issue to my campaign since I cannot overturn it myself. It is my personal moral choice to oppose it, nothing more, nothing less. To say Roe v. Wade is an issue for the president is moot and honestly is dsiregarded in my campaign.
Gay Marriage: Moderately support
While holding personal choice to not be gay, I will say homosexuality is a free right of the people who choose it. This means they deserve the same civil liberties of married couples. I will leave this entirely up to the state and not bring it into the federal government’s hands because in that power it becomes more than just a law.
Foreign Policy/Wars: Heavily Opposed
I stick to my guns on this one: trade with other nations yet befriend none. I cannot trust other countries to loveus as we ‘love’ them, so I refuse to start or join wars and refuse to take part in foreign affairs of state such as government or rights of the people. Each nation has rights to determine its fate, if they want democracy they will revolt such as we did in 1776. Otherwise, we will trade freely under the guidelines I have set up for businesses as stated earlier.
Globalisation: Heavily opposed!
I am a firm believer Americans have every asset to become an island, self sustaining in every respect. We have the money and technology to efficiently live a lifestyle independent of manufacturing in Thailand or the Philipines. I refuse to allow American based countries to utilize other nations more than ours and vice versa. This means we will research our own alternative fuel sources and not hit Iraq up for oil when we are in a bind! This also will require Wal-Mart type countries to invest heavily in home-based manufacturing and distribution, more so than there is right now. This will allow American entrepreneurs to have more freedom within our nation.
Second Ammendment: No opinion
The supreme court has determined this ammendment to be valid, so no matter where I stand it is unimportant. I personally would allow ownership of any guns that are not-automatic.
Illegal Immigration: heavily opposed
Our president seems to be clueless that the reason people like me can’t get jobs because people like him pawn money off the oil business and sit in their white ivory halls. I will not starve, nor will anyone else, because 10 million people who have no right to be here are taking our jobs! Either force them out of America or force them to become regular citizens, but one way or another the working class America will return to its former glory within my tenure as president. That much I promise.
Freedom of Speech and Religion: Heavily Support!!!
This means every religion, as long as it does not break the laws of the land, is bound by the law of America to be free to practice in public. This includes Muslims, Hindis, Christians, Jews, and Mormons (while the list goes on). Speech will never be censored unless it is detrimental to the basic laws and principles of America as well, as determined by as objective a rulebook as possible. Favouritism will be implented with objective enforcing of law.
Public Education System: Moderate
I’m torn between improving a public system or switching entirely to privatised education. In one sense, cutting public education out of the budget heavily decreases taxes. Privatising means that everyone will have to search elsewhere and will leave many poverty stricken inner-cities without schools.
The solution is not easy, but it’s very clear that I cannot dismiss the public system, merely reform it. I would push to implement classical learning (pre John Locke era) and not require 12 years but press learning into 10 or fewer years, based on performance. Emphasis will be on critical thinking and less on functionality in the workplace. Principally this will allow people to, ona broader scale, adapt to situations without having prior knowledge in such areas. This is a result of my observations of those who have been classically trained pitted against those from a public school (sadly I was publicly trained).
This system will lower taxes by requiring less time to complete such a system and will, hopefully, implement a much better future for a nation going to hell in a handbasket!
By the way, we will be out of Iraq and other volatile countries by this time, allowing us to focus 100% of our manpower on improving the people within our borders.
Universal Health Care: Moderate
I am also torn on this issue. What I will try to implement will be a small system of health care funded by the government for small businesses, at a much discounted rate. Large companies will be forced to, out of profit pocket, pay all their employees plans (at least 90% of the annual charge). This will enable every individual coverage while keeping it relatively privatised and wil ensure the federal government doesn’t screw this up too (like the mortgage system….).
Social Security and Income Taxes: Heavily Oppose
Where I stand as a staunch conservative is the issues of taxes and social security. I will completely remove social security and pay out everyone’s individual sum up to this point in full. I will hopefully be able to (can’t promise) force companies to implement a more rigorous 401K programme for individuals, especially those over 40. I will totally remove the income tax (by this time I will have downsized the federal government considerably) and allow people to keep that portion of their paychecks. This will enable individuals and families alike to put that 7% towards healthcare thru their employer.
In Summary
I will basically force larger companies to pick up the slack in this nation and keep profiterring CEOs from getting fatter wallets off the poor man. I will remove most social institutions, in turn opening more jobs anddrastically lowering taxes that will remove the need for such institutions. Healthcare will be universally required of businesses to provide but not of the citizen, it will be personal choice. Educational systems will be reformed to allow slower students more time and allow faster students the ability to learn the basic functions to operate in multiple job scenarios while not forcing anyone to a lifetime of schooling to compensate for the poor education standards we see today. Abortion and Gay marriage are not presidential issues, therefore I will not address them as such and leave them to the state (abortion pending overturning of Roe v. Wade). Immigrants are welcomed but will be returned to their country if discovered, no mercy allowed. There will be ample opportunity given to them to make the decision prior to shipment, however, thus the “no mercy” is sort of a last resort.
Environmentally speaking, we will devote ourselves to making an efficient nation supplying itself with everything we need and wil require other nations to have heavy implentation of taxes and fees in order to trade with us (big businesses as well).
We will remain an island that is allied with none and will reside a silent lighthouse in the west for anyone seeking true freedoms and rights of individuals. I will remove much of the fascist mindset in Washington and return it to the states and, most importantly, to the people.
